President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam Toh Lam took part in a military parade.

On May 7, on Defender of the Fatherland Day, a military parade dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory was held in Astana. The ceremony was attended by General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam Toh Lam, who is in Kazakhstan on a state visit. In his speech, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stressed that the Great Victory had become an integral part of national history and an important lesson for the whole world. – We honor the exploits of our ancestors who heroically defended their native land, and we honor the bright memory of those who fell in the battles for the Motherland. We also pay tribute to the soldiers who protect the peace of the country in peacetime," the Head of State stressed. More than 4,000 servicemen of all types of the Armed Forces and other military formations took part in the parade.
More than 5,000 guests gathered on the square, including war veterans and home front workers, representatives of the diplomatic corps and international organizations, deputies, public figures, delegates from all regions of the country, pupils of military-patriotic clubs.
