SCIENTIFIC PRIORITIES AND VALUES OF THE INSTITUTE

The main objective of the Institute as a state research institution is to conduct philosophical and ideological, philosophical and methodological, political science, religious studies, and sociological research aimed at developing the intellectual and spiritual and moral potential of modern Kazakhstani society. Today, the Institute of Philosophy, Political Science, and Religious Studies is a highly professional research center. The Institute operates in three key areas that determine its structure: philosophy, political science, and religious studies. One academician, two corresponding members of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 19 doctors of science, six candidates of science, four PhDs, and seven PhD students conduct research here. As part of the project to integrate science and education to train scientific personnel, the research institutes, together with the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, are working on the development of scientific research. Al-Farabi University of Applied Sciences (Gylym Ordasy) is currently studying five PhD students and five master's students.

Chronology of events

1955
A philosophy and law sector was created within the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR.
1958
The Philosophy and Law Sector was transformed into the Research Institute of Philosophy and Law of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR.
1999
The Institute was renamed the Institute of Philosophy and Political Science of the Ministry of Science – Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
2012
The Institute was transformed into a republican state enterprise, the Institute of Philosophy, Political Science, and Religious Studies, under the Science Committee of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
2021
The Institute was transformed into a republican state-owned enterprise with the right of economic management, the "Institute of Philosophy, Political Science, and Religious Studies" of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
1955

Subject and Purpose of Activities

Purpose: to carry out fundamental, applied, and analytical research on pressing issues of world and domestic philosophy, political science, religious studies, cultural studies, and sociology.

Subject: scientific research in the field of the humanities.
The Institute is steadily developing as a national intellectual center that combines traditions and innovations in the humanities, cultivates academic potential, strengthens international cooperation, and contributes to Kazakhstan’s sustainable development strategy—ensuring a balance between scientific discoveries, social values, and cultural continuity.
