IPhPR Strategic Session on the Development of Political Science
The Institute of Philosophy, Political Science and Religious Studies hosted a Strategic Session dedicated to key issues in the development of political science in Kazakhstan and globally.

The event was organized by the Center for Comparative Political Studies of IPhPR.
The theme of the strategic session was “Political Science in Kazakhstan and the World: Trends, Meanings, and Ways of Influencing Public Consciousness and Social Transformation.”
The purpose of the event was to discuss the main challenges and prospects of political science, analyze contemporary trends, and reflect on the role of political science in shaping public consciousness and social change amid global and regional transformations.

The session opened with welcoming remarks by Aigul Sadvokassova, General Director of the Institute.
The moderator of the event was Aidar Amrebayev, Head of the Center for Comparative Political Studies.

Leading Kazakhstani scholars and experts participated as keynote speakers, including:
• Aidos Sarym — political scientist, Deputy of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
• Tolganay Umbetaliyeva — political scientist, General Director of the Central Asian Foundation for the Development of Democracy;
• Andrey Chebotarev — political scientist, Director of the Center for Current Studies “Alternativa”;
• Vladimir Dunaev — Professor, Chief Research Fellow at IPhPR;
• Rustem Kadyrzhanov — Professor, Chief Research Fellow at IPhPR.

The strategic session addressed a wide range of issues related to the transformation of political processes in conditions of global instability, changes in forms of political participation and political communication, as well as the role of expert and academic knowledge in shaping socially significant decisions. Particular attention was paid to the relationship between national and global contexts in the development of political science, interdisciplinary approaches to political research, and the practical application of academic findings in public policy and social development.

During the discussions, participants examined contemporary theoretical and applied directions in political science, mechanisms through which political research influences socio-political processes, and the challenges and opportunities for the development of political science in Kazakhstan within the context of global trends.

At the conclusion of the strategic session, participants emphasized the importance of further advancing political science in Kazakhstan, expanding interdisciplinary research, and strengthening cooperation between the academic community, government institutions, and society. The significance of integrating domestic political science research into the international academic space was also highlighted.
