The embodiment of the idea of ​​our President Q.K. Toqayev about the effective use of historical heritage and cultural potential for the consolidation of society is reflected in the goal of the project, which is the religious analysis of Islamic identity within the unique ethno-cultural code of Kazakhstanis. The need to study the chosen topic is explained by the development of the cultural consciousness of Kazakhstani society in view of the events experienced in recent years: the social isolation associated with the pandemic contributed to a reassessment of the importance of interpersonal interaction; the recent events of "Tragic January", which demonstrated the exceptional importance of interethnic and interfaith harmony and social stability; and the migration wave, caused by the domestic and foreign political events of our largest neighbor, the Russian Federation, sharply raises the question of the national identity of Kazakhstanis.

Islamic identity, which is the key content of ethnocultural identity, deserves permanent research, since the rhetoric formed by public sentiment around religious identity is often multidirectional, contrasting, and sometimes polar. It is no exaggeration to speak about the relevance of the problematization of Islamic identity for the stability of national security due to the critical importance of preventing the radicalization of social sentiments.
