Round Table: “Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan: Values and Symbols”

On December 12, a round table titled “Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan: Values and Symbols” was held, dedicated to the country’s Independence Day.
The event was organized by the Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages, the Institute of Philosophy, Political Science and Religious Studies of the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan (IPhPR), the Almaty Seminar Club of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan (ANK), and the Almaty Young Scientists Club of ANK.
The meeting was moderated by Murad Shamilov, Chair of the Young Scientists Council of ANK Almaty and Senior Lecturer at the Department of International Relations, Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages.
Aigul Sadvokasova, General Director of IPhPR, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. She congratulated everyone on the national holiday and noted that in a relatively short but eventful 34 years, Kazakhstan has achieved significant development—overcoming challenges and accomplishing major milestones, laying a strong foundation for modern statehood.
On behalf of the Rector of Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages, Salima Sagievna Kunanbayeva, the participants were congratulated by Mayra Uspanova, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Innovative Activities. She emphasized the importance of strengthening national identity, as well as the values and symbols that underpin Independence.
During the round table, a report on the activities of the Almaty Seminar Club of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan was presented, allowing participants to evaluate the progress of implemented initiatives and the club’s future directions. The discussion continued with expert presentations addressing fundamental questions about the understanding of independence, contemporary socio-humanitarian challenges, and prospects for the development of Kazakhstan’s statehood. The depth of the topics prompted a substantive professional discussion and highlighted the importance of an interdisciplinary approach to studying the values and symbols of Independence.
At the conclusion of the round table, participants noted the significance of continued collaborative efforts in researching pressing issues related to Independence and strengthening joint scientific initiatives.
