Extended Meeting of the Board of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education
On February 13 in Almaty, an extended meeting of the Board of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Minister of Culture and Information Aida Balaeva. The meeting focused on the topic: “Higher Education and Science: The Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence.”

The event was attended by Minister Sayasat Nurbek, more than 100 leading scholars, university leaders, international partners, representatives of research organizations and expert communities, as well as professors and lecturers.

In her speech, the Deputy Prime Minister addressed issues related to the quality of higher and postgraduate education, instructing stakeholders to strengthen this work in line with labor market demands through close cooperation between the ministry, universities, and regional administrations (akimats).

The Institute of Philosophy, Political Science, and Religious Studies was represented at the meeting by Deputy Director General for Research, Sholpan Dzhamanbayeva.

During the session, the Minister of Science and Higher Education presented a report on the results of the Ministry’s activities in 2025 and outlined key objectives for 2026, highlighting major issues in education and science and the implementation of the Concept for the Development of Higher Education and Science for 2023–2029.

Participants also discussed digital transformation in higher education and science, the introduction of artificial intelligence, improving the quality of personnel training, and strengthening links between science and industry.
