On October 21, 2025, Turan University hosted the presentation of a popular science essay by Doctor of Economics, Professor Rakhman Alshanovich Alshanov, titled “Alexander the Great’s Military Expedition to the Lands of the Saka: From the History of Khan Shu.”
The work explores the little-studied pages of the history of the Saka tribes and the military campaign of Alexander the Great, as reflected in ancient sources. The essay draws historical parallels between classical chronicles and the Turkic tradition, addressing issues of cultural memory, continuity, and identity formation within the context of the ancient history of Central Asia.
The event was attended by prominent public figures, military representatives, and scholars from Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. The Institute of Philosophy, Political Science and Religious Studies was represented by Gulnar Omarova, Leading Research Fellow of the Center for World and Kazakh Philosophy, who delivered a presentation.

Participants praised the high scholarly level of the research and emphasized its importance in deepening historical self-awareness and strengthening scientific dialogue among the countries of the Turkic world.
