IPhPR Scholars Spoke at the Presentation of the Kazakh Edition of V.S. Stepin’s Textbook History and Philosophy of Science
On 13 November 2025, on the eve of World Philosophy Day, a presentation of the Kazakh edition of Vyacheslav Semenovich Stepin’s textbook History and Philosophy of Science took place. The book was translated into Kazakh by Doctor of Philosophy, Professor, and State Prize Laureate of Kazakhstan Murat Sabituly.

The event was organized by the Department of Philosophy of the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science of Al-Farabi KazNU, the Institute of Philosophy, Political Science and Religious Studies (IPhPR), the Kazakh Committee of the Philosophical Society of Turkic Peoples, and the Scientific and Educational Center “Kazakh Philosophy.” Academics and educators from Kazakhstan and Russia participated in the presentation.

The translation and publication of the textbook mark a significant step toward strengthening scientific and cultural ties between philosophers of the two countries and promoting V.S. Stepin’s philosophical heritage within the international academic community.

Vyacheslav Semenovich Stepin — Doctor of Philosophy, Professor, President of the Russian Philosophical Society (1999–2018), and State Prize Laureate of the Russian Federation — is one of the most influential contemporary philosophers of the post-Soviet space. His works have profoundly shaped the development of the philosophy of science and the methodology of scientific inquiry. The Kazakh edition of his textbook will create new opportunities for students and researchers in Kazakhstan, contributing to the dissemination of important philosophical ideas.

The event was opened and moderated by the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science of Al-Farabi KazNU, Bekzhan Meirbayev, PhD.

Among the keynote speakers was Ayazhan Sagikyzy, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor, and Chief Researcher at IPhPR. Other IPhPR senior researchers — Rustem Kadyrzhanov, Gaukhar Barlybayeva, and Anatoly Kosichenko — highlighted the enduring relevance of Stepin’s ideas for modern philosophy of science and the humanities. Deputy Director General of IPhPR Yermek Toktarov and Senior Researcher Aizhan Moldagaliyeva also took part, supporting the discussion of the textbook’s key themes and its importance for the academic community.

The presentation was held as part of events aligned with the state visit of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the Russian Federation.
