President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed condolences to President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping in connection with the numerous human casualties as a result of the earthquake in the northwestern part of the country.

"I have received with deep sorrow the news of the death of your compatriots as a result of the devastating earthquake in Gansu Province. Expressing condolences to you and the families who lost loved ones as a result of the natural disaster, I would like to inform you that at this difficult moment, the people of Kazakhstan share the pain of the irreparable loss of the Chinese people. I wish a speedy recovery to the injured and the safe return of the missing citizens to their families," the telegram says.
