- Kassym-Jomart Kemelovich, we are grateful that you agreed to give an interview to the newspaper "Egemen Qazaqstan", despite the time constraints. Your opinion on the issues of concern to society is very important for the Kazakh press. Therefore, we want to have a frank conversation with you on various topics. What do you remember last year?

– I take this opportunity to congratulate all my compatriots on the new year!

2023 was a year full of important events for our country. We have completed the main political reforms. The Constitutional Court began its work. Deputies of the Mazhilis and maslikhats of all levels were elected according to the new rules. For the first time, we elected mayors of districts and cities of regional significance.

The election of mayors of cities of rural and district significance continued. Last year, about 700 rural mayors were elected.
