LIFE AND ACADEMIC JOURNEY IN THE DOCUMENTARY FILM “FINDING ONESELF”

On April 1, 2026, a screening of the documentary film “Finding Oneself – Rustem Kadyrzhanov” was held at the Institute for Philosophy, Political Science and Religious Studies. The film is dedicated to the life and academic path of the distinguished Kazakhstani philosopher Rustem Kadyrzhanov.
R. Kadyrzhanov is a Doctor of Philosophical Sciences, Professor, and Chief Research Fellow of the Institute. For more than 40 years, he has been engaged in academic research in the fields of philosophy and political science. His key research areas include national policy and issues of identity in independent Kazakhstan, as well as the analysis of political systems and elites. He is the author of numerous scholarly works and is widely recognized within the country’s academic community.
Directed by Assiya Baigozhina, the film reveals the personality of the scholar through the lens of an inner search, reflection on personal destiny, and the history of his people, family, and lineage. The film explores profound philosophical themes of self-knowledge and spiritual development.
The screening generated strong interest among the Institute’s staff, researchers, and students. The film attracted attention for its depth and sincerity and served as a basis for a substantive discussion on the philosophy of personality, the search for identity, and the spiritual orientations of contemporary society. During the discussion, participants exchanged views on issues of self-knowledge, the role of the individual in the historical process, and the significance of national self-awareness in the context of modern global transformations.
