On June 5, 2026, the Institute for Philosophy, Political Science and Religious Studies hosted an expert discussion on the topic “Prospects for the Development of Parliamentarism in Kazakhstan in Light of the Adoption of the New Constitution.”

The event brought together researchers from the Institute, members of the expert community, political scientists, and scholars. Participants examined current issues related to the transformation of Kazakhstan’s political system in the context of ongoing constitutional reforms.

The discussion was organized as an expert dialogue, providing a platform for the exchange of views between representatives of the academic and expert communities. Various approaches to analyzing current political processes and institutional changes were presented.

Particular attention was paid to the opportunities for the country’s political development under the new constitutional framework and to the role of renewed institutions in Kazakhstan’s contemporary political processes.

The discussion featured invited experts, including Andrey Chebotarev, Director of the Alternative Center for Current Research and Candidate of Political Sciences, and Burikhan Nurmukhamedov, member of the Constitutional Reform Commission, alongside researchers from the Institute.

Participants discussed the prospects for the development of the party system in the context of upcoming parliamentary elections, changes in the status of the legislative branch within the system of checks and balances, and the functioning of institutions such as the Quryltai and the Kazakhstan People’s Council within the renewed architecture of state governance.
