President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s state visit to the Republic of Korea is taking place with an intensive political and business agenda. In Seoul, the Head of State has already held a number of meetings, including with former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

At the heart of the Kazakh-Korean dialogue are investment, industrial cooperation, advanced technologies, artificial intelligence, transport and logistics, as well as humanitarian ties. Particular attention during the visit is being paid to attracting Korean businesses to the implementation of major projects in Kazakhstan. The first Central Asia–Republic of Korea Summit will be another key event of the visit.

Aidar Amrebaev, Head of the Center for Comparative Political Studies, shared his views on why the Korean direction is becoming increasingly important for Kazakhstan, what opportunities cooperation with one of the world’s leading technology economies opens up for the country, and how the Head of State’s active diplomacy affects Kazakhstan’s international standing.
