IPhPR Monograph on Mega-Grant Presented to MPs during AI Law Discussion
On September 19, the First Academic Hearings on the Draft Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Artificial Intelligence” and related bylaws were held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

The event was organized by Al-Farabi KazNU to discuss the key provisions of the legislative initiative aimed at regulating the field of artificial intelligence in Kazakhstan.

The draft law was presented by Member of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, Secretary of the Committee on Economic Reform and Regional Development, Yekaterina Smyshlyaeva.

Certain provisions of the bill were outlined by its co-authors:
* Unzila Shapak, Member of the Mazhilis, Committee on Legislation and Judicial-Legal Reform;
* Yerbolat Saurykov, Member of the Mazhilis, Committee on International Affairs, Defense and Security;
* Yuliya Kuchinskaya, Member of the Mazhilis, Committee on International Affairs, Defense and Security.

Of particular interest to the participants was the monograph “Digital Society and Law”, prepared by a research team led by Daulet Baideldinov under the scientific program “Kazakhstani Society in the Context of Digital Transformation: Prospects and Risks” of the Institute of Philosophy, Political Science and Religious Studies (IPhPR CS MOHES RK). Recently published, the book was presented to Mazhilis deputies during the discussion of the AI law.

This step confirmed that the results of the Institute’s mega-grant not only reflect global digital trends but also have direct practical application in shaping the legislative framework for the development of artificial intelligence in Kazakhstan.

The discussion marked an important stage in the formation of the legal foundations for further AI development in the country.
