On October 21, 2026, a scientific and practical conference titled “Егемендік – елдіктің бастауы” (“Sovereignty – the Foundation of Statehood”) was held in Almaty to mark Republic Day. Aigul Sadvokassova, Director General of the Institute of Philosophy, Political Science and Religious Studies, participated in the event.

The conference brought together deputies of the 12th convocation of the Supreme Soviet of the Kazakh SSR, who witnessed the adoption of the historic document, as well as public and government figures and members of public councils.

The main objective of the event was to highlight the historical significance of the Declaration on State Sovereignty and examine its role in the establishment of an independent Kazakhstan.

Participants discussed the key stages of the country’s development, from the adoption of the Declaration on State Sovereignty to Kazakhstan’s achievements throughout the years of independence.

Special attention was given to the provisions of the Declaration that established the foundations of state sovereignty, territorial integrity, citizenship, independence in international relations, the democratic and secular nature of the state, and national symbols.
