Prospects for Scientific and Academic Cooperation: Meeting with the Delegation of the University of Malaya

On September 10, 2025, scholars of the Institute of Philosophy, Political Science and Religious Studies of the CS MOHES RK met with a delegation from the University of Malaya (Malaysia), headed by Professor Mohd Fauzi Hamat, Dean of the Academy of Islamic Studies, and Professor Isak Suliaman, Department of the Qur’an and Hadith Studies, along with other representatives of the university. The event was also attended by representatives of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of Kazakhstan.
In her welcoming address, Aigul Sadvokassova, Director General of the Institute, emphasized that strengthening academic ties with leading international universities opens new opportunities for training highly qualified specialists and advancing domestic science to the international level. The meeting was moderated by Yermek Toktarov, Deputy Director General for Strategic Development.
During the discussions, the parties reviewed a wide range of issues related to the prospects for scientific and academic cooperation. Key areas of partnership included: joint supervision of doctoral students with the involvement of Malaysian professors as academic advisors, implementation of joint research projects and publications, participation in international and national grant competitions, as well as promotion of research in leading journals indexed by CoCSMES, Scopus, and Web of Science.
Special attention was given to organizing academic internships and reciprocal researcher visits, exchanging expertise in the commercialization of scientific developments, and fostering new forms of collaboration in the fields of Digital Humanities and Computational Social Science. The parties also highlighted the importance of organizing joint summer schools and online seminars.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed confidence that the agreements reached would provide a solid foundation for strengthening international scientific cooperation, expanding academic mobility, and implementing joint initiatives that open new horizons for the development of science and education. It was noted that the partnership between Kazakhstan and Malaysia will enhance the competitiveness of national science and strengthen its position on the global academic stage.
The Institute of Philosophy, Political Science and Religious Studies of the CS MOHES RK views this cooperation as an important step toward integration into the global scientific and educational space and reaffirms its readiness to further develop mutually beneficial collaboration.
