An expanded meeting of rectors of higher education institutions and directors of research institutes was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University with the participation of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Minister of Culture and Information, Aida Balaeva.

During the meeting, key objectives set by the Head of State, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, regarding the development of science and higher education were discussed. Particular attention was paid to enhancing the competitiveness of national science, improving the quality of research, and orienting university science toward the needs of industry and society.

An informally organized discussion was also attended by Gulzat Kobenova, Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Abzal Nukenov, Deputy Akim of the city of Almaty.

“Science and higher education are the key foundation of the country’s sustainable development. Universities and research organizations must transform into centers that make a real contribution to the socio-economic development of the state. Therefore, adapting to market demands is a necessity of our time,” Aida Galymkyzy emphasized.

The meeting was also attended by Aigul Sadvokassova, Director General of the Institute of Philosophy, Political Science and Religious Studies.

At the conclusion of the meeting, participants put forward proposals aimed at the further development of science and higher education, highlighting the importance of strengthening cooperation between universities and research institutes.
