The Role of Science and Society in the Context of Constitutional Reform
On February 4, 2026, a round table titled “The Role of Science and Society in the Context of Constitutional Reform” was held at the National Academy of Sciences under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The event was moderated by Akhylbek Kurishbayev, President of the National Academy of Sciences.

Leading academicians, public figures, and young scholars took part in the round table in both online and offline formats, delivering topical presentations. The Institute of Philosophy, Political Science, and Religious Studies was represented at the event by Senior Research Fellow Nurken Aitymbetov.

During the meeting, participants expressed their support for the new draft Constitution and presented a number of proposals on behalf of the academic community. In particular, broad support was given to defining science and education as priority areas for the sustainable development of the state. In addition, the issue of ensuring human rights and freedoms, which has become a key element of constitutional reform, was positively assessed as an important factor in societal development.
