The U.S. Interest in Central Asia Hides a Geoeconomic Calculation
The C5+1 Summit, scheduled for November 6 in Washington, demonstrates that Central Asia is actively entering the global political arena.

This opinion was expressed in an interview with Kazinform by Rustem Mustafin, Head of the Center for Digital Social Sciences at IFPR.

“Why is the current stage of the C5+1 Summit important for Kazakhstan, Central Asia, and the U.S.?”

“The significance of the upcoming November 6 summit in Washington goes beyond symbolic value. It is not merely a diplomatic continuation of cooperation between Central Asia and the United States.

For example, while the meeting with Joe Biden in New York had a declarative, almost academic character, now Donald Trump demonstrates readiness for a concrete, pragmatic, and transactional approach. Washington now views Central Asia not only in terms of democracy or sustainable development, but also through the lens of specific deals, resources, transport routes, and mutual exchanges.”
