On Wednesday, February 5, 2025, the Center for Political Studies of the Institute of Philosophy, Political Science and Religious Studies of the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan held an expert discussion on the topic: "Extended government meeting with the participation of the Head of State on January 28, 2025: in the mirror of current analytics." The event was attended by leading experts in the fields of political science, economics, public administration and sociology. During the discussion, issues of the effectiveness of public policy, the impact of the global economy on the sustainability of Kazakhstan, the prospects for the development of the social sphere, the investment climate, as well as forecasting possible challenges and risks were considered. Experts noted that during the meeting of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the President of the country stressed the need to improve the effectiveness of public administration.
In particular, the issue of the low effectiveness of the implementation of reforms was raised, despite the availability of relevant strategic documents. The participants of the round table agreed that the key factors for improving the effectiveness of public policy should be: - reduction of bureaucratic procedures; - Strengthening the accountability of government agencies; - widespread adoption of digital technologies. It was noted that the traditional mechanisms for evaluating the activities of government agencies require revision. It is necessary to focus not only on macroeconomic indicators, but also on a real improvement in the quality of life of the population. In this context, it is proposed to strengthen public control over the activities of government agencies and expand the mechanism of public monitoring. During the discussion, the issue of the impact of the global economy on Kazakhstan was considered.
